Boxlo is designed with privacy as a core principle. Your data stays on your device. We do not operate servers that collect, store, or process your personal information.

Data Storage

All data you create in Boxlo — including photos, notes, box information, and room assignments — is stored exclusively on your device in a local database. This data is not transmitted to us or any third party, except when you explicitly use the AI analysis feature described below.

AI Photo Analysis

Boxlo includes an optional AI feature that analyzes your photos to identify items. When you choose to use this feature:

Photos are sent directly from your device to Google's Gemini API servers for processing
Photos are transmitted over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection
Google processes the photos in real-time to generate item descriptions
According to Google's API Data Usage Policy, data sent through paid API calls is not used to train Google's AI models
Photos are not stored by us on any intermediary server. We never see, access, or retain your photos
The AI-generated results are stored only on your device

You can use Boxlo fully without ever using the AI feature. Photo analysis is always initiated by an explicit user action (tapping "Analyze Contents").

Data We Do Not Collect

We do not collect:

Personal information (name, email, phone number)
Location data
Device identifiers or analytics
Usage data or behavioral tracking
Your photos or any content you create in the App

No Analytics or Tracking

Boxlo contains:

No analytics libraries
No tracking pixels
No cookies
No network requests for user data
No third-party SDKs that collect data

Third-Party Services

The only third-party service used is Google's Gemini API, and only when you explicitly request AI photo analysis. No other third-party services receive your data. Google's privacy policy governs their handling of data processed through their API.

Data Export and Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

View all stored data within the app
Export your data at any time from Settings
Delete individual boxes or all data through the app
Remove all data by uninstalling the app

Data Security

Your data is protected by your device's built-in security features. We recommend using a device passcode or biometric lock to keep your information secure.

Children's Privacy

Boxlo is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13 years of age.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected with a new "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
